London Police Seek Public Assistance to Locate 16-Year-Old Male in Connection with Targeted Shooting

Posted on December 20, 2025 by Edward Fontes

Introduction: Youth Suspect Wanted in Downtown London Shooting

London police are asking for the public’s help in locating 16-year-old Cayden Shoemaker, wanted in connection with a targeted shooting of a supportive housing residence in the city’s downtown core last month. Authorities say the incident, which occurred in the early hours of Nov. 10, 2025, involved deliberate gunfire aimed at a specific apartment, though the bullets struck a nearby building instead.

This case highlights ongoing concerns about youth involvement in violent crime and has prompted law enforcement to release identifying information under a judicial authorization granted through the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Details of the Incident

Gunfire Strikes Justice Centre

According to the London Police Service, officers responded to the Justice Centre on Richmond Street on Nov. 10 after an employee discovered what appeared to be a bullet hole in a window. The investigation determined that the shooting had taken place the previous night, around 11:15 p.m.

Evidence gathered at the scene indicates that while the Justice Centre was struck by a stray bullet, the gunfire was directed at a supportive housing unit located directly above the building. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, and authorities have confirmed that the Justice Centre itself was not the intended target.

Targeted Shooting of a Supportive Housing Residence

Police believe the shooting was targeted toward a specific occupant of the supportive housing unit. Investigators identified two suspects involved in the incident, including 16-year-old Cayden Shoemaker, who allegedly fired multiple rounds toward the intended residence.

Authorities note that Shoemaker is believed to have been known to the occupant, suggesting a personal connection in the targeting of the residence.

Arrests and Seizures

One Suspect Already in Custody

On Nov. 21, police arrested one of the suspects associated with the shooting. During the arrest, officers seized two loaded firearms, as well as controlled substances including fentanyl and oxycodone, along with cash. The individual faces multiple charges related to the incident.

Youth Suspect Remains Outstanding

Cayden Shoemaker, however, remains at large. London police have issued a judicial authorization permitting the public release of identifying information under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, given the seriousness of the charges and the ongoing risk.

Description of the Wanted Youth

Police have released the following information to aid in the search for Shoemaker:

  • Name: Cayden Shoemaker

  • Age: 16 years old

  • Ethnicity: White

  • Height: 5’3”

  • Weight: 145 lbs.

  • Build: Slim

  • Hair: Shoulder-length brown

  • Eyes: Brown

Authorities believe Shoemaker may be in the London or Chatham area.

Charges Laid Against Shoemaker

Shoemaker is wanted on a warrant of arrest in connection with the shooting. The charges include:

  • Discharge of a firearm in a reckless manner

  • Disguise with intent

  • Possession of loaded/unloaded regulated firearm

  • Possession of restricted or prohibited firearm without a license

  • Occupying a motor vehicle while in possession of a firearm or related weapons

These charges reflect the seriousness of the offense and the potential risk posed to the public.

Police Appeal to the Public

Do Not Approach the Suspect

London police are urging anyone with information on Shoemaker’s whereabouts to contact authorities immediately. The public is strongly advised not to approach him, as he is considered dangerous.

Anyone with information can contact:

  • London Police Service: (519) 661-5670

  • Crime Stoppers: 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)

  • Online anonymous tip: London Middlesex Crime Stoppers website

The release of Shoemaker’s identifying information is intended to assist law enforcement in apprehending him safely and ensuring the safety of the community.

Community Impact and Safety Considerations

The targeted shooting of a supportive housing residence has raised concerns about safety and youth involvement in serious crimes. Supportive housing residents, who are often vulnerable due to socio-economic or health-related challenges, were placed at risk in this incident.

Police emphasize the importance of community vigilance and cooperation in locating the suspect, while also reiterating that the public should avoid taking any action themselves.

Conclusion: Ongoing Investigation

The London Police Service continues to actively investigate the shooting and is committed to ensuring justice is served. With one suspect already in custody and another still at large, authorities stress the importance of public assistance in safely locating Cayden Shoemaker.

The case underscores the ongoing challenges of youth-involved violent crime in London, and police remain focused on both holding perpetrators accountable and protecting the broader community from harm.
